What to do in and around Bampton

  • What makes the cottages so special is that we are within a very short level walk to the village's 2 convenience stores, baker, butcher, 3 pubs (one of which, the Swan, has been voted in the top 50 gastropubs in the UK) and 2 restaurants.

  • Yet come through the five bar gates and you have views over beautiful rolling Devon countryside.

  • Bampton is ideally placed to explore South and North Devon.

  • We are on the Exe Valley Way and you can walk to Dulverton, in the Exmoor National Park, alongside the lovely river Barle.

  • Haddon Hill, with its stunning 360 degree views and Exmoor ponies is 10 minutes away by car.

  • Wimbleball Lake offers canoeing, sailing windsurfing and much more.

  • National Trust properties Knightshayes is 10 minutes away and Killerton House just 30 minutes away.

  • The glorious North Coast of Devon, including award winning Saunton Sands and surfing heaven Croyde are less than an hour away.

  • The beautiful cathedral city of Exeter is 30 minutes away and beyond that the stunning Jurassic Coast.

  • If you like steam trains, then you'll love the West Somerset Railway which runs for 20 miles from Bishops Lydeard (30 minutes from us) up to Minehead, via Dunster (and Dunster Castle).
